Ja Morant and Memphis Grizzlies Launch Charismatic Fundraiser for Type 1 Diabetes Cure.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has pledged an extraordinary $6.7 million donation to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes in children and adolescents under the age of 20. The initiative is part of a larger NBA-backed fundraiser set to take place later this month, aiming to raise awareness and support research for the chronic condition that affects thousands of young lives each year.

Morant, known not only for his explosive play on the court but also for his growing leadership off it, expressed his passion for the cause in a recent statement. “This is personal,” he said. “Kids deserve to grow up without having to constantly manage a disease that affects every part of their lives. If we can help lift that burden, even a little, it’s worth everything.”

The fundraiser will include a high-energy charity basketball event hosted at FedExForum in Memphis, with participation from NBA players, celebrities, and community leaders. Fans will also be able to contribute through ticket sales, merchandise, and an online donation platform. All proceeds will go directly to medical research organizations focused on developing more effective treatments and an eventual cure for Type 1 Diabetes.

The NBA has thrown its full support behind the campaign, promoting it across its teams and media platforms. Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins applauded Morant’s initiative: “Ja’s commitment is inspiring. It shows the power of using your platform for real change.”

With millions already pledged and national attention growing, this fundraiser is expected to be one of the most impactful charitable events of the year. For Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies, it’s more than basketball—it’s about changing lives.
