Despite these issues, Marte still offers speed and defensive flexibility, stealing 16 bases and playing solid defense in the outfield.
However, the Mets appear ready to part ways with Marte, who is owed $19 million in the final year of his contract. His declining offensive numbers and recent injury concerns have made him more of a liability than a benefit, prompting New York to explore options for shedding his salary while potentially improving their bullpen.
A Bullpen Boost in Hunter Harvey
