Tennessee Lady Vols guard Destinee Wells has entered the NCAA transfer portal as of April 17, 2025, becoming the third player to do so following Kim Caldwell’s inaugural season as head coach.

Wells transferred to Tennessee from Belmont University in 2023, where she had a standout career, averaging 18.1 points and 4.7 assists per game over 90 starts. At Tennessee, her 2023–24 season was cut short after just 10 games due to a lower right leg injury. Before the injury, she averaged 6.8 points and 3.5 assists per game, with a notable performance against Troy, scoring 18 points and providing eight assists.

Wells’ departure adds to the roster changes under Coach Caldwell, who has been active in the transfer portal to reshape the team. Recent additions include Syracuse forward Alyssa Latham, Miami forward Lazaria Spearman, and Arkansas guard Samara Spencer. These moves indicate a strategic shift as Caldwell aims to implement an up-tempo, high-scoring style of play.

As the Lady Vols continue to adjust their roster, Wells’ entry into the transfer portal marks a significant change, reflecting the evolving dynamics of the team under new leadership.
