Texas Longhorns Excel On and Off the Court: 8 of 10 Returners Named to SEC Winter Sports Academic Honor Roll.

The Texas Longhorns continue to set the standard both athletically and academically. In their first year competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), eight of the ten returning players from the 2023-24 squad have been named to the SEC Winter Sports Academic Honor Roll—a testament to the team’s dedication, discipline, and balance between sport and scholarship.

This recognition highlights student-athletes who not only compete at the highest level but also maintain strong academic standing throughout the winter season. Earning a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll requires meeting rigorous GPA criteria while participating in varsity-level competition. The honor reflects a high level of commitment in the classroom, as well as on the court.

For Texas, this milestone reinforces the program’s culture of excellence and all-around development. It also speaks volumes about the work ethic and leadership of the returning players, who have set the tone for younger teammates and future recruits.

Balancing academics with the demands of a high-profile SEC basketball schedule is no easy feat, but the Longhorns continue to rise to the challenge. These student-athletes have proven that Longhorn success is not limited to game day—they’re winning in study halls, labs, and lecture halls too.

As the Longhorns prepare for the upcoming 2024-25 season, they do so not just with talent and experience on the roster, but with maturity, discipline, and intelligence that set them apart across the conference. Congratulations to these eight outstanding student-athletes for representing the Burnt Orange with pride—and showing what it truly means to be a Texas Longhorns.
