NO Stephen Curry, NO PROBLEM!!!
The Golden State Warriors proved they’re still a force to be reckoned with, even without their superstar Stephen Curry.
Behind a gritty, all-around team effort, the Warriors took Game 1 of their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 99-88 victory, seizing a 1-0 lead and setting the tone for what promises to be a physical and hard-fought battle.
Jimmy Butler, the heart and soul of this Curry-less squad, stepped up in a major way. He delivered a commanding double-double performance, finishing with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. His leadership, defensive tenacity, and late-game execution anchored Golden State as they held off multiple Minnesota runs.
Buddy Hield lit it up from beyond the arc and gave the Warriors a much-needed scoring punch. He dropped a team-high 24 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 assists, spacing the floor and keeping the Timberwolves’ defense on edge. His shot-making was vital, especially in a third quarter where Golden State extended their lead.
Veteran forward Draymond Green was instrumental on both ends of the floor. He added 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, doing a little bit of everything—just as he’s done throughout his career. Green’s defensive presence and high-IQ plays gave the Warriors a steadying force in clutch moments.
On the other side, Minnesota struggled to find rhythm offensively. Anthony Edwards was held in check, and the Timberwolves shot just 41% from the field. Despite some strong interior play, they couldn’t overcome the Warriors’ defensive intensity and depth.
With Game 2 looming, the Warriors have momentum and confidence—proving once again that championship DNA runs deep, even when their brightest star is sidelined.
Can the Timberwolves bounce back? Game on.
