The 35-year-old superstar has long been known for his desire to control his own destiny, and the near-trade may have eroded trust with the Suns’ front office.

 

The Suns’ early playoff exit has only added fuel to the speculation. With Phoenix facing limited roster flexibility and few tradable assets outside their core stars, moving Durant could help them retool. Meanwhile, the Lakers are in search of a third star to pair with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
