WNBA superstars and South Carolina alumnae A’ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston have announced the creation of the Wilson-Boston Legacy Fund—a multi-million dollar endowment aimed at propelling the University of South Carolina’s women’s basketball program to new heights.

Unveiled on May 5, 2025, at Colonial Life Arena, this initiative stands as one of the most significant private donations by former collegiate athletes to a women’s basketball program .

The endowment is designed to provide comprehensive support, including scholarships, advanced training facilities, leadership development, and mental health resources for current and future Gamecocks. Additionally, a portion of the fund will be dedicated to community outreach and youth basketball programs across South Carolina.

“This is where it all started for us,” Wilson remarked. “The University of South Carolina didn’t just help us become better athletes—it helped us become better women, leaders, and role models.” Boston echoed these sentiments, stating, “Coach Staley, this program, and this community changed our lives. It’s only right that we reinvest in a place that gave us so much.”

Head coach Dawn Staley lauded the donation as “one of the most powerful moments in our program’s history,” emphasizing that Wilson and Boston are “showing every young girl in our program—and beyond—that when you achieve greatness, you reach back and lift others up.”

This philanthropic move not only cements Wilson and Boston’s legacies as athletes but also as pioneers fostering equity and opportunity in women’s sports. Their commitment ensures that the Gamecocks’ tradition of excellence will continue to flourish for generations to come.
