Arsenal Target Julián Álvarez in Ambitious Summer Move
Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Argentine forward Julián Álvarez as part of Mikel Arteta’s plans to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.
According to El Chiringuito, the Gunners are “very interested” in the 25-year-old World Cup winner, who has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign at Atlético Madrid.
Álvarez joined Atlético from Manchester City last summer in a deal worth £80 million. Since then, he has flourished under Diego Simeone, scoring 29 goals and providing six assists across all competitions. His versatility, high work rate, and eye for goal have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
With Arsenal determined to mount a serious title challenge and end their long-standing trophy drought, signing a top-class striker is a key priority for Arteta. The Gunners have often been praised for their fluid attacking play but have lacked a consistent goal scorer to convert their dominance into silverware.
The Mirror reports that Atlético would consider selling Álvarez if they receive an offer exceeding the £80 million they paid to Manchester City. While such a fee would represent a significant outlay, Arsenal’s board are believed to be willing to back Arteta in the transfer market.
Bringing in Álvarez would send a strong message of intent and could prove pivotal in the Gunners’ pursuit of both domestic and European glory. The move would also reunite Álvarez with several Premier League rivals and former teammates, adding intrigue to the upcoming season.
As transfer speculation intensifies, all eyes will be on the Emirates to see whether Arsenal can seal one of the summer’s biggest deals.
