Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has agreed to join Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer this summer, marking the end of his tenure at the Emirates Stadium.

The 33-year-old, who arrived from Chelsea in January 2023 for €11.3 million, has been a reliable squad member under Mikel Arteta, amassing 75 appearances across all competitions.

With his contract set to expire in June 2025, Arsenal has opted not to activate the one-year extension clause, allowing Jorginho to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Flamengo. Reports indicate that the Brazilian club has finalized a three-year deal with the midfielder, despite earlier interest from Juventus.

Jorginho’s departure is part of a broader midfield overhaul at Arsenal. The club is preparing for the exits of other experienced players, including Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney, both of whom are also expected to leave as free agents. To reinforce the midfield, Arsenal is targeting Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who has a £51 million release clause, as a potential replacement.

Jorginho’s move to Flamengo represents his first professional stint outside Europe, following successful periods in Italy and England. His experience and leadership are anticipated to be valuable assets for the Brazilian side as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
