Arsenal open talks to sign £58m star with Andrea Berta pushing for move.

Arsenal have initiated preliminary discussions with the representatives of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres, aiming to secure his services in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 26-year-old Swedish international has emerged as a prime target for the Gunners, following an exceptional season in Portugal.

Gyökeres has been in prolific form, netting 47 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, including a remarkable hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League. His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, with Arsenal viewing him as a key addition to bolster their attacking options.

While Gyökeres’s contract includes a release clause of £85 million, reports suggest a gentleman’s agreement may allow a transfer for approximately £63 million. This potential reduction could make the deal more feasible for Arsenal, who are keen to strengthen their squad under the guidance of new sporting director Andrea Berta.

Despite the growing speculation, Gyökeres has remained tight-lipped about his future. When asked about a possible move to London, he responded succinctly, “I like Lisbon,” indicating his current contentment but not ruling out a transfer.

Arsenal’s interest in Gyökeres is part of a broader strategy to enhance their attacking prowess. Other potential targets include Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško. However, Gyökeres’s proven goal-scoring record and physical attributes make him a particularly attractive option for the Premier League side.

With the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal fans will be eager to see if the club can finalize a deal for Gyökeres, potentially adding a formidable striker to their ranks for the upcoming season.
