Arsenal’s Ideal Starting XI for Next Season: Rodrygo and Viktor Gyökeres Headline Arteta’s Ambitious Transfer Vision.
Arsenal are preparing for a blockbuster summer as Mikel Arteta aims to finally end the club’s two-decade wait for a Premier League title. After narrowly missing out in back-to-back seasons, the Gunners are expected to make key signings to take that final step—and the dream XI after just three major additions is a tantalizing prospect.
The marquee name on the list is Rodrygo, Real Madrid’s electric forward. With Kylian Mbappé heading to the Bernabéu, Rodrygo’s role in Spain could be diminished, making him a viable target for Arsenal’s project. His ability to operate on either wing with pace, creativity, and a goal threat would inject elite quality into Arsenal’s attack.
Up front, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres is the No. 9 Arteta craves. The Swedish striker has been in red-hot form in Portugal and possesses the physicality, finishing, and pressing work-rate that could transform Arsenal’s frontline. Gyökeres could lead the line with Bukayo Saka and Rodrygo flanking him, forming a terrifying front three.
The final piece of the puzzle could be a midfield enforcer like Martin Zubimendi or another elite No. 6 to anchor the midfield. This would allow Declan Rice to operate in a more dynamic box-to-box role alongside captain Martin Ødegaard, giving Arsenal a balanced, high-energy engine room.
At the back, William Saliba and Gabriel remain untouchable, with Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko (or Takehiro Tomiyasu) offering flexibility at full-back. David Raya is expected to retain the No. 1 jersey.
If Arsenal can land even two of these dream targets, they’ll have one of Europe’s most complete squads—and a real shot at lifting the Premier League trophy in 2025.
