BREAKING NEWS: Mikel Arteta Explains Why Thomas Partey May Not Start Against PSG.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Thomas Partey may not feature in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s high-stakes UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain. The Ghanaian midfielder, who recently returned from a lengthy injury spell, is still being carefully managed by the club’s medical staff as he regains full match fitness.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arteta emphasized the importance of not rushing Partey back into intense competition too quickly. “Thomas is a crucial player for us, but after such a long period out, we have to be very cautious,” Arteta said. “We’ve seen great progress in his training, and he’s getting closer, but we also have to think about the long term and avoid any setbacks.”

Partey, who has made a handful of substitute appearances in recent weeks, has yet to complete a full 90 minutes since returning. While fans were hopeful to see him in the starting XI against a powerful PSG midfield led by Vitinha and Manuel Ugarte, Arteta suggested that other options might be more appropriate from the start.

“Against a side like PSG, the intensity is extremely high,” Arteta added. “We need players who are 100% ready from the first whistle. Thomas will definitely play a role, but whether he starts or comes on later depends on how we assess him after our final training session.”

With Arsenal eyeing a place in the Champions League semi-finals, Arteta’s cautious approach is understandable. The Gunners will likely turn to the in-form Declan Rice and Jorginho to anchor the midfield if Partey is benched.

Arteta’s decision underscores both the competitive nature of Arsenal’s squad and the manager’s commitment to protecting key players.
