BREAKING NEWS: Viktor Gyökeres Transfer to Arsenal Stalls Over Key Issue — “Total War” Threatens Deal as Negotiators Fly Home.

In a dramatic twist, Arsenal’s much-anticipated move for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres has stalled, with sources close to the negotiation warning of a potential “total war” between the clubs if tensions aren’t defused quickly.

According to reports from Portugal, the Gunners’ negotiating team has abruptly flown back to London after talks collapsed over the structure of the deal — particularly the payment terms and release clause activation. Sporting are demanding that the full €100 million (£85m) release clause be paid upfront, while Arsenal want a staggered payment plan to stay within Premier League financial guidelines.

This clash has created a fiery atmosphere behind the scenes, with Sporting officials reportedly accusing Arsenal of “disrespecting” their valuation and approach. In response, Arsenal’s camp believes Sporting are being “rigid and confrontational,” with one insider describing the tone of the final meeting as “toxic.”

Gyökeres, 26, had already given personal terms the green light, having been impressed by Mikel Arteta’s long-term vision and the chance to lead the line in the Premier League. He scored 43 goals across all competitions last season and was Arsenal’s top striker target following setbacks in moves for Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko.

However, unless a breakthrough is reached soon, Arsenal may be forced to shift focus to alternative targets, including Ivan Toney or Dusan Vlahović.

With both clubs now locked in a high-stakes standoff, fans are left holding their breath as what seemed like a near-done deal now hangs in the balance — and threatens to erupt into a summer-long transfer saga.
