Mikel Arteta has expressed confidence in William Saliba’s future at the club, despite reported interest from Real Madrid.
Arteta emphasized that Saliba is happy at Arsenal and desires to stay, affirming the club’s commitment to retaining the French defender.
Saliba, under contract until 2027, has become a pivotal figure in Arsenal’s defense. He has consistently expressed his contentment at the Emirates, stating, “I feel at home here… I’m enjoying everything — the players, staff, and fans.” He also highlighted his ambition to achieve success with Arsenal, noting, “If you leave this club and win nothing, the fans will forget about you. Of course, I want to achieve a lot here.”
Real Madrid has reportedly identified Saliba as a top defensive target, with club president Florentino Pérez showing personal interest in securing his services. However, Arsenal remains resolute in their stance, with sources indicating that the club would only consider an offer exceeding £100 million.
Saliba’s performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him a place in the PFA Team of the Year for two consecutive seasons. His partnership with Gabriel Magalhães has been instrumental in Arsenal’s defensive solidity, contributing to the team’s aspirations for domestic and European success.
While Real Madrid’s interest underscores Saliba’s rising profile, both the player and Arsenal appear committed to a shared future, focusing on achieving silverware and continued growth within the club’s ambitious project.
