Arsenal have reached a full agreement with Sporting CP for the signing of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres in a blockbuster deal worth €80 million.
The Gunners will pay an initial €70 million, with an additional €10 million included in potential add-ons. Of that, €8 million will be tied to team performance targets, while the remaining €2 million will depend on Gyökeres’ individual achievements at the club.
Fabrizio Romano has given the iconic “Here we go!” signal, confirming that Gyökeres is now set to become Arsenal’s marquee striker signing of the summer. The powerful forward has been Mikel Arteta’s top priority for the No. 9 position, seen as the ideal blend of physicality, pressing ability, and goal threat to elevate the Gunners’ attacking line.
Gyökeres is expected to undergo his medical in the coming days, with sources suggesting it could take place by the end of the week in London. Personal terms have already been agreed, with the player ready to sign a long-term contract and join up with the squad for pre-season preparations.
The 26-year-old comes off a phenomenal campaign with Sporting, scoring 43 goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions, making him one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers. Arsenal had to beat off interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Fenerbahce, to finalize the deal.
