🚨 BREAKING: Arsenal to Pay £55m for Viktor Gyökeres, Plus £8m Add-ons.
Arsenal have made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, agreeing to pay £55 million as a fixed fee to Sporting CP, with an additional £8 million in performance-based add-ons. The total package, worth £63 million, is set to make Gyökeres one of the Gunners’ most expensive signings.
A key factor in sealing the agreement was the intervention of Gyökeres’ agent, who waived his £5.5 million commission fee. This strategic move helped reduce the upfront cost for Arsenal while ensuring Sporting CP still receive the full value of the deal. Instead of paying both the agent’s commission and the transfer fee, Sporting will now benefit from the full amount agreed with Arsenal.
This adjustment allowed the Gunners to keep the fixed portion of the fee lower, helping them manage Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations more efficiently. The add-ons, which are currently being finalised, are believed to be linked to appearances, goal contributions, and potential team achievements, including Champions League qualification and Premier League success.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been pushing hard for Gyökeres, who netted over 40 goals for Sporting last season and has emerged as a top striking target. The 26-year-old’s physical presence, pressing intensity, and clinical finishing are seen as ideal attributes to complement Arsenal’s current attacking setup.
Gyökeres is expected to travel to London shortly for a medical and to finalise personal terms. If all goes to plan, he will become Arsenal’s marquee signing of the summer and a central figure in their title ambitions for the upcoming season.

completion.
