– Recommended bet: Draw
Few would have expected Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain to both be in the bottom half of the Champions League standings going into Tuesday’s high-profile meeting when the fixtures came out.
However, both teams have lost two of their first four games in the competition, with the German giants going down to Aston Villa and Barcelona, while the French side have been beaten by Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
Both teams are in decent form now, with Bayern chalking up six consecutive wins to nil since their 4-1 hammering in Barcelona, while PSG have won four of their last five matches.
Team news
Midfielder Joao Palhinha (adductor) and Hiroki Ito (foot) are out for Bayern and forward Mathys Tel will have to be assessed after missing Friday’s game due to a knock picked up on international duty with France.
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was able to play against Augsburg after a rib injury while Josip Stanisic and Aleksandar Pavlovic are both nearing full fitness again. Leon Goretzka, Serge Gnabry and Konrad Laimer should all be in contention to start.
PSG were boosted by the news that Goncalo Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes were all able to train on Sunday, but Lucas Hernandez and Senny Mayulu are likely to miss the game.
Marquinhos is available after a domestic suspension, with Gianluigi Donnarumma, Willian Pacho and Vitinha also likely to come into the side.

Prediction
PSG have been handed an extremely tough start to their Champions League campaign and it does not get any easier with a trip to Bayern Munich following earlier formidable challenges against Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
The French side slipped to 25th place in the standings after Atleti’s last-minute winner gave them a 2-1 victory in Paris, but the home side had dominated the play in that game with 71.3% possession and nine shots on target and it was a similar story in their 1-1 home draw with PSV in their previous continental outing.
Luis Enrique’s side are certainly capable of asking questions of Bayern as both teams are unbeaten and six points clear in their respective domestic leagues.
Bayern’s form looks red-hot but eighth-placed Union Berlin are the strongest Bundesliga opposition they have faced in their current winning run and PSG should prove to be their toughest challenge since their 4-1 defeat at Barcelona.
Bayern have failed to win only five of their last 27 home games in this competition, but one of those was a 3-2 home defeat by PSG in April 2021.
With Vincent Kompany’s men at short odds to extend their winning run, the French side could prove a value selection to pick up a valuable draw on the road after scoring seven goals in their last two away games.
