Manchester United now want to sign a striker who has been compared to Luis Suarez – and contact has been made.

The Red Devils are understandably on the lookout for a new frontman after a tough campaign in terms of goalscoring.

Erik ten Hag’s side have only netted 52 goals in 34 Premier League outings this term – no side in the top ten have scored fewer.

Now – however – Manchester United are looking to solve this problem with a move for one of Europe’s most exciting talents…

Manchester United want Vitor Roque

Well – according to Mundo Deportivo – Manchester United have enquired about Barcelona No.19 Vitor Roque.

The Spanish news outlet believe the Red Devils have been in touch to ask about the Brazilian’s situation in Catalonia, as the South American struggles to break into Xavi’s starting XI.

Roque moved to Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense in January for a sum of €40m (£34m) – after shining with 28 goals in 81 games for the Brazilian outfit.

However, the Timóteo-born striker has only made two starts in La Liga since arriving at Barcelona, which has encouraged Manchester United to ask about the chances of a transfer.

Mundo Deportivo also mention that a loan move could be possible for Roque this summer.

Plays like Luis Suarez

Roque is just 19 years of age and yet to prove himself at Barcelona, so a section of Manchester United fans might not know much about him.

If that is the case, then a comparison to a household name may help, and the Brazil U23 international has actually been compared to Suarez by some in the media – also by himself.

Speaking to Spanish news outlet SPORT, Roque said: “Yes, I think so, there are great similarities. Both Luis Suarez and I use a lot of physicality in the way we play, and we also have things in common in finishing, being very keen on scoring goals.”

The Uruguay international scored 69 goals in 110 Premier League appearances during his time at Liverpool – also providing 23 assists.

Therefore, if Roque is even 50% of the player Suarez was at his peak, then Manchester United could get their hands on a very special talent.

Following Jadon Sancho’s impressive performance in Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League win over PSG, Piers Morgan has taken aim at Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag

Piers Morgan has once again hit out at Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, claiming he ‘doesn’t know how to handle world class players’.

Morgan has repeatedly criticised Ten Hag following his controversial interview with Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2022, where he accused the Dutchman of not respecting him and attempting to force him out of the club.

Ronaldo’s contract was ultimately terminated by mutual consent a few weeks later and he ended up joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, where he has scored 52 goals in 58 appearances.

Jadon Sancho also had a falling out with Ten Hag, having publicly accused him of lying after the manager explained he did not select him for a game against Arsenal due to “his performances in training”.

As a result, Sancho was frozen out and returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan in January after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag. And the winger looks to be getting back to his best at Dortmund, having starred in the first leg of their 1-0 Champions League semi-final win over PSG.

Sancho made the most dribbles by an Englishman in Champions League history with 12, while the last person to complete more in a semi-final was Lionel Messi back in 2008. And in reaction to Sancho’s performance, Morgan took to social media to hit out at Ten Hag.

“The fact that Ronaldo and now Sancho are playing brilliantly away from United, and Rashford is struggling while still with them, suggests the real problem at the club isn’t ‘difficult’ world class players but a manager who doesn’t know how to handle them,” he wrote.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Sancho, but former Scotland striker Ally McCoist believes the forward “has his mojo back” at Dortmund. McCoist told TNT Sports: “Sancho looks like a different player entirely.

“His body language is like the player Man Utd bought. You can tell a lot from body language and he wants to take people on and play. He certainly looks rejuvenated. It is confidence, he has his mojo back. He is in an environment where he is liked and he looks like a different footballer.”
