Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted that he wasn’t sure if his move to Liverpool came at the right time for him.

Szoboszlai has been brilliant so far this season, hitting the ground running at Liverpool in a way few have done before. Several months into his Anfield career, it’s fair to say he looks like he was born to play for the Reds.

But, speaking to BBC Sport this weekend, the 23-year-old has admitted that he wasn’t convinced he was ready to move this summer.

“To be honest, I was thinking is it [joining Liverpool] the right timing?” Szoboszlai says.

I said to myself, ‘always when something big comes, you never know, you have to try.’ If I wouldn’t try, it would always be on my mind why I didn’t go. So I just said ‘let’s do it, let’s see, I’m going to be ready.’”

Szoboszlai admits Anfield anxiety

As it turned out, Szoboszlai needn’t have been worried at all. The Hungarian looks completely and totally ready to play for Liverpool.

Of course it’s still early days and trouble will come at some stage but so far, Szobo has been like a duck to water.

“Not the right choice, the right timing. Am I ready to come to the Premier League and play for Liverpool?

It hasn’t just been his on-pitch performances either. Liverpool’s new No.8 has carried himself so well off the pitch, too.

You can see exactly why he’s captaining his country aged just 23. Szoboszlai looks born to be a superstar at a big club like the Reds.

As a result, it does come as a bit of a surprise to hear that he had some doubts about his £60m move this summer.

Whatever anxieties he had did have though, Liverpool fans will be delighted that he put them to the side. It was the perfect time and the perfect choice. The perfect club for the perfect player. We can’t wait to see how Szoboszlai develops from here.
