Liverpool return to Anfield this afternoon to take on Nottingham Forest in their latest Premier League fixture.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be looking to make it three wins on home soil in the space of a week, having beaten Everton in last weekend’s Merseyside derby and followed up that victory with a commanding performance against Toulouse on Thursday evening.
The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the league season this term, losing only one game to Tottenham Hotspur in controversial circumstances, and will fancy their chances of maintaining their early form when facing Forest today.
Curtis Jones, who starred in the midweek Europa League win, will not be available for Liverpool as he serves the final game of his three-match ban for seeing red at Spurs last month. Also expected to be unavailable will be long-term absentees Conor Bradley, Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, in addition to Scottish duo Andy Robertson and Ben Doak. For the visitors, Divock Origi is expected to miss out on the chance for a special Anfield reunion due to injury.
After making eight changes to his starting eleven ahead of the Toulouse showdown, Klopp hinted he is set to shake up his squad once again for the visit of the Tricky Trees.
“The boys who didn’t play [on Thursday] will have a proper session [on Friday], so that is good. So they stay in training,” said the Reds boss “But if we would play always the same team, which we did in the past maybe in the Champions League more often, or stuff like this, then there is no training at all, it’s just recovery and go again.
“So far we could do it like that, and because we don’t have too many injuries – it’s always too much but it’s still OK in the moment and hopefully it stays like that – that’s why we can do it.
