Finalized agreement: a £40 million player from england will join liverpool right now see more…

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt is wanted by Arsenal and Newcastle.

Eddie Howe’s Toon have had a close-up view of the 27-year-old Germany star in their two Champions League games, Brandt scoring in Tuesday night’s 2-0 defeat of the Magpies.

They like what they have seen, also the case with the Gunners. Arsenal have been tracking Brandt although Dortmund have so far refused to consider any bids for a player they secured for around £22million.

Last summer he signed an extension to his contract taking him to June 2026, but that hasn’t stopped some Premier League big boys continuing to court him. It’s unlikely Dortmund – with their Champions League ambitions still intact – will be tempted to sell in the January window.

Brandt was unsure about making the move from Leverkusen at the time, saying: “My gut feeling and my head are telling me the time to move has not arrived yet. I have to straighten things out in Leverkusen.

“Of course there are players who say a year without European football before the World Cup is good reason to move. But if you move to a bigger club a year before the World Cup, you risk taking time at first to settle which possibly means playing fewer games.

Brentford’s only win in their 11 visits to face Liverpool was by 4-3 in the top flight in November 1937. They have lost their subsequent seven matches at Anfield, scoring just once and conceding 16.

The Bees haven’t kept a clean sheet in 16 meetings with Liverpool in all competitions since a goalless top-flight draw in April 1936.

Liverpool

Liverpool have won all five of their home league fixtures this season by an aggregate score of 14-2.

The Reds are aiming to equal their club record of nine successive home wins by a margin of two or more goals, set from May to October 1980.

They are aiming to win their opening six Premier League fixtures in a season for only the third time, emulating the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have lost only one of their last 47 home league games, and none of the last 17, since a 2-1 defeat versus Leeds in October 2022.

Liverpool have gained 11 points from losing positions this season, more than any other top-flight team.

Since keeping three consecutive clean sheets in May, Liverpool have kept just four in their last 19 games in all competitions.

Mohamed Salah has scored or assisted in each of Liverpool’s last 14 Premier League home matches (15 goals, three assists).

Salah can become the fourth player to score in each of his club’s opening six home games of a Premier League season, after Alan Shearer (1995-96 for Blackburn Rovers), Les Ferdinand (1995-96 for Newcastle United) and Thierry Henry (2004-05 for Arsenal). Hwang Hee-chan can also join this list if he scores in Wolves’ home fixture against Spurs on Saturday.Brentford are aiming to win four consecutive top-flight matches for the first time since March 1939, and for the first time ever in the highest division while scoring two or more goals in each game.

They have dropped 11 points from winning positions this season, a joint top-flight high with Bournemouth and Burnley.

Fourteen of their last 15 league wins have come in London, including the last nine in a row. The exception was a victory at Southampton in March. Since the start of last season, the Bees have only won two of their 16 games outside the capital.

Bryan Mbeumo has been directly involved in 13 goals in his last 14 Premier League appearances, scoring nine and providing four assists.

Neal Maupay is aiming to score in consecutive league appearances since December 2021. He has never scored a Premier League goal in seven matches against Liverpool.Liverpool need a boost ahead of the international break. The players will be hoping Anfield can give them a lift after two disappointing results on the road. There is no reason for Liverpool to be concerned just yet. The draw with Luton Town felt like a loss despite Luis Díaz’s late equalizer and that performance was followed up by a defeat to Toulouse in the Europa League.

But the Luton game was the one that was a real surprise. Liverpool would have expected to go to France and win but did so with plenty of changes and in the knowledge that there are still two more group matches to play. The Reds will still get the job done, while for Toulouse, it was the biggest game of the players’ lives.

What Liverpool needs next is to make sure that the fixture with Brentford is taken care of with minimal fuss and the Reds get back to winning ways. With Manchester City after the international break, it is vital to regain some form and answer a couple of questions. If Liverpool can get back into winning form quickly, talk of the title being realistic could return. Drop more points and the Champions League places might be the limitation for Jürgen Klopp’s side this year.
