Regan Slater’s first goal on home soil on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Adam Randell’s finish earlier in the half to send the Tigers in level at the break, after notching up 70 per cent possession in a dominant first period.

City dominated the second half but could not find that elusive winning goal which though their unbeaten run since the opening day stretches to eight matches.

Here’s how Tigers reporter Barry Cooper rated the players this afternoon at the MKM Stadium…

Ryan Allsop: Should perhaps have done better with the opening goal which was parried straight into danger. Made an important stop in the second half. Largely a spectator. 6/10

Ruben Vinagre: Saw plenty of it in the first half, always a threat but if there was one criticism, it’s a need to release his ball earlier. Replaced by Lewie Coyle with 20 minutes to go. 6/10

Sean McLoughlin: Steady enough after coming back into the team at the expense of the suspended Jacob Greaves. As you’d expect from the Irishman, did what he needed to do with little fuss. 6/10

Alfie Jones: Liek McLoughlin, didn’t have a huge amount do to in the game. Almost got his side in bother midway through the second half when overcooking it. 6/10

Cyrus Christie: Bright early on including a really threatening run but had difficulty against Bali Mumba. Always a threat down the right. 6/10

Jean Michael Seri: Skipper for the day. Ran the midfield but did get lucky with a pass that ricocheted into the arms of Allsop. Often in the right place at the right time to aid his side going both ways. His turn away from his man in the second half was gorgeous. 8/10

Tyler Morton: Saw plenty of it early doors on his home debut. Excellent passage of play earlier second half saw City keep the pressure on. Pushed so hard in the closing stages, a really good debut. 8/10

Regan Slater: Buzzed around first half, great run to equalise just before the break with his first home goal. Could have had a second but for a wicked deflection which this week didn’t go in his favour. 7/10

Adama Traore: Batted a header over after making a late run. Saw header blocked and then a fizzing drive turned over as City looked to turn the screw. Decent display. 7/10

Jaden Philogene: The biggest threat in a fairly low-key opening. His willingness to keep the ball alive was key in laying on Slater’s goal on a plate. Should have scored in the second but wanted an age to get a shot away. Came close second half. A real danger throughout. 8/10
Aaron Connolly: Cut a frustrated figure early on, couldn’t get into the game, or get the ball under his spell. One of those days where absolutely nothing came off for him. 5/10

Subs:

Liam Delap (on for Traore 62): Came so close to winning it with a thumping drive in the closing stages. 6/10

Scott Twine (on for Slater 62): Just could not find a way to get into the contest. 5/10
