I’ve never seen him play so badly before TalkSport pundit slams £34m Liverpool player after Everton display
Former Liverpool midfielder Ray Houghton has slammed Mohamed Salah’s performance against Everton despite the winger bagging a brace.
Speaking on TalkSport, the pundit was critical of the £34m attacker’s display in the Merseyside Derby, with Salah having a sloppy opening half for the Reds.
Despite this, though, Salah proved to be the difference maker as the Egyptian international converted a 75th-minute penalty before sealing the three points with a late second goal at Anfield.
Indeed, Salah’s qualities was ultimately what Liverpool needed to secure a massive win in the Premier League title race, yet Houghton was not impressed with what he saw.
Houghton said on the Liverpool superstar’s performance against Everton yesterday: “Salah has had such a poor game, it’s unbelievable.
“I’ve never seen him play this badly for Liverpool. I’d never take off a player who can win a game but he’s so far off the pace.”
Liverpool would not have won against Everton without Salah. An attacker can have a quiet game whilst also ending up on the scoring sheet, with Salah just one such example to such a broad statement.
Yet despite Houghton’s criticisms, the Reds simply would not have won this weekend had it not been for Salah’s finishing abilities and his world-class qualities in the attacking third.
There’s no denying that the forward should have done better in the opening half, but to say Salah was bad is a step too far from the TalkSport pundit.
