Jurgen Klopp has now inspired Tottenham Hotspur supporters to call for a 2019 Champions League final replay.re now joking about replaying the 2019 Champions League final.

The last few days have been complete chaos after Tottenham’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool.

Tottenham’s last-minute winner through a Joel Matip own goal has been overshadowed by controversial events earlier in the game.

Curtis Jones was given a straight red card in the first half before Diogo Jota picked up a red card of his own after the break.

The big moment was in the first half though as Luis Diaz had a superb goal incorrectly ruled out due to a breakdown in communication with the VAR team.

Tottenham went onto win the game and Liverpool are furious, demanding that the audio the VAR communication to be made public.

That audio highlighted the frankly terrible communication breakdown, but there was nothing more sinister in there.

Liverpool still aren’t happy though and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has now escalated the matter.

Klopp has told Sky Sports that the only reasonable outcome in his eyes is to replay the game.

The Premier League are surely unlikely to go down that route but Klopp has made his full thoughts public.

Tottenham would absolutely object to that idea, especially as Liverpool were down to 10 men at the time of the Diaz incident, and Spurs fans have been poking fun at the Reds boss.

Tottenham supporters have been suggesting that, if Klopp wants to replay games for bad refereeing decisions, then the 2019 Champions League final should be one of them.

Liverpool won a very early penalty in that game with Moussa Sissoko very harshly penalised for a handball.

Spurs fans haven’t let that go and having suggested to replay the game, ex-Tottenham ace Jan Vertonghen has joined in.

The Belgian featured in that game in Madrid and experienced heartbreak as Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory.

Vertonghen simply stated ‘count me in’, noting that he would be well up for replaying that game if Klopp wants to open that can of worms.

Liverpool will look to make it back-to-back wins to start its Europa League campaign on Thursday when it hosts Belgian club Royal Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield. The Reds kicked things off with a 3-1 victory away to LASK last month, while Union SG drew 1-1 with Toulouse in the other game.

Liverpool will of course be heavy favorites, but it will be a facing a side that currently tops the Belgian Pro League on goals scored after picking up 19 points from its first nine matches.

The visitor will fancy its chances of causing Liverpool problems, particularly as Jürgen Klopp is likely to make plenty of changes from the 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Caoimhín Kelleher appears to be the Reds’ cup goalkeeper at this moment in time, so he should be given another opportunity, but Klopp faces something of a dilemma at center-back.

Impressive youngster Jarell Quansah is likely to come in for a full debut in the competition, and while Ibrahima Konaté is the only senior option who didn’t start at Spurs, Klopp may not want to save him for the tricky trip to Brighton on Sunday.

That should lead to Joël Matip, scorer of the heartbreaking late own goal in north London, keeping his place after a five-day break. The situation at left-back is far more straightforward, with Kostas Tsimikas poised to replace Andy Robertson.

Klopp should also go with the same midfield that started away to LASK, giving summer signings Wataru Endō and Ryan Gravenberch another opportunity after both performed well against Leicester in the Carabao Cup.

With Curtis Jones facing a three-game Premier League ban following a contentious red card at the weekend, there’s an argument to start the Scouser here, but Gravenberch would probably benefit more from another 60 minutes or so before what may be a full league debut at the Amex. Harvey Elliott will struggle to dislodge Dominik Szoboszlai, but should get chances in games like this.

That just leaves the attack, where the desire to protect Mohamed Salah should lead to another outing for teenager Ben Doak, and Diogo Jota looks a nailed-on inclusion in the knowledge that he can’t play against Brighton as he serves a suspension of his own.

Darwin Núñez, an unused substitute after Liverpool fell down to nine men, should return to the team, provided he’s recovered from the minor problem he sustained last week.
