Just in: English FA announced santions on Liverpool player Diaz for disobeying rules against jersey messaging.
In his first match since his parents were abducted, Luis Diaz scored a vital equaliser and revealed a message demanding the release of his father.
Luis Diaz, a star for Liverpool, technically broke the rules regarding messaging on jerseys when he scored against Luton, but the FA will not prosecute him.
On Sunday night, Diaz made his Premier League debut by scoring an equaliser for the Reds against the struggling team in injury time. It was his first game back since his parents were abducted nine days prior by rebels in Colombia.
While his father has been missing since ELN rebels demanded “security guarantees” in exchange for his parole, his mother was promptly set free. Diaz celebrated his goal at Kenilworth Road.
Players are prohibited from “wearing or revealing any item of clothing displaying any personal message” by FA regulations. That would typically make Diaz eligible for a possible charge from the regulatory organisation.
However, the Daily Mail claims that managers have chosen not to press charges against him due to the unusual circumstances and the fact that the attacker from Liverpool did not take off his entire shirt.

In addition to disclosing the letter hidden inside his shirt, Diaz publicly demanded his father’s release. In a social media post, he pleaded with the rebel group to keep their word and release his father.
“The player is not speaking here. The son of Luís Manuel Díaz is today’s Lucho Díaz. Mane, my father, a cornerstone of the family, a devoted worker, has been abducted. He uttered, “I beg ELN to release my father as soon as possible.”
Additionally, I request that the worldwide associations take up that task in order to ensure his freedom. We worry more every minute, every second. Our family’s horrible emotions are beyond words, and they won’t change as long as he isn’t returning home.
“I implore you to free my father immediately, honouring his moral character. I would want to express my gratitude to the Colombian people and the global world for their support. This objective is to release my father and every kidnapped person in.
The militant Marxist-Leninist organisation known as the ELN has admitted to being behind the kidnapping. However, in a revised statement issued in reaction to Diaz’s objective and public cries, they have asked “security guarantees”.
The decision to free Mr. Luis Manuel Díaz, the father of the player Luis Díaz, was communicated to the nation on November 2. We started the procedure to do this as quickly as feasible on that day. We are working to prevent conflicts with government personnel,” the statement read.
