Liverpool player ratings after 3-1 win against West Ham Utd on Sunday
It was level at the break, Jarrod Bowen having levelled with an excellent diving header after Mohamed Salah’s emphatic penalty gave the Reds an early lead.
There were no immediate changes from Jurgen Klopp after the first half, with big chances for Darwin Nunez and another for Bowen being squandered.
The Uruguay international made no mistake on 60 minutes, however, finishing neatly with his right after a ball over the top from Alexis Mac Allister.
Diogo Jota, on as a substitute, made sure of victory late on with a neat poach via a Virgil van Dijk knockdown from Andy Robertson’s corner.
Alisson Becker 7
Superb save kept out Soucek header early on and no chance of reaching the equaliser. Claimed Bowen effort second half.
Joe Gomez 8
Accepted the challenge of playing as an inverted right-back and regularly assisted the attack during a busy showing. Dutiful defensively also. Impressive.
Joel Matip 8
Showed good composure at times up against the dangerous Antonio and stepped forward into midfield when possible. Calm as West Ham pressed late on.
Virgil van Dijk 7
Solid for most of the match but caught napping by the brave Bowen for the leveller. Strong header set up the third.
Andy Robertson 7
Helped Liverpool regularly probe down the left and some solid tackles, and wasn’t overawed by occasional West Ham physical might on his flank.
Alexis Mac Allister 7
Better performance in the number six role and shut down several West Ham attacks while able to probe forward, not least with assist for Nunez goal. Subbed.
Dominik Szoboszlai 8
Sought to keep the Reds moving before the break with some probing passing and challenges. Accomplished and discipled display. Looks a proper Liverpool player.
Curtis Jones 7
Brought energy to the engine room and the one player in a tricky opening 15 minutes to be busy for Liverpool and consistent throughout. Subbed.
Mohamed Salah 8
Always looked dangerous in possession, won and converted penalty for first and set up chance for Nunez. Worked hard in winning back lost balls.
Darwin Nunez 8
Maintained possession well, had a hand in winning the penalty, missed one good second-half chance but atoned with a great finish for the decisive second. Another good outing. Subbed.
Luis Diaz 7
Kept running at the West Ham defence and linked well with Robertson and Nunez in particular. Subbed.
Ryan Gravenberch (for Jones 77) 7
Home debut for the deadline-day signing.
Cody Gakpo (for Nunez 81) 7
Helped Liverpool keep the ball in the closing stages.
Diogo Jota (for Diaz 81) 7
Bustling cameo and prodded home the third.
