Sources: Bayern opening Leroy Sane talks as Liverpool explore sensational deal as Bayern Munich are opening talks with Leroy Sane over a new contract amid fears of strong Liverpool interest, sources have told Football Insider.

Liverpool have made Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane their No.1 target to replace Mo Salah and they are ready to smash their club transfer record of £80m for Darwin Nunez in order to land the Germany winger.

The 27-year-old former Manchester City player is also attracting the interest of Real Madrid, but Kop boss Jurgen Klopp would love to lure Sane back to the Premier League in a club-record deal.

Sane, who has enjoyed a bright start to the season with seven goals in 11 games, won’t come cheap if Bayern are tempted into selling a player they prised away from Manchester City in exchange for £55million in July 2020.

But with Salah expected to leave to become the Saudi Pro League’s poster boy, almost certainly next summer, Liverpool who rejected a £150m bid from Al-Ittihad just before the last transfer deadline can expect further big offers, which would pay for Sane’s capture.

The 27-year-old attacker is in the form of his life and is dazzling in a right-flank role for the Bundesliga champions this season.

Bayern do not want to lose Sane, whose contract expires in the summer of 2025 and are keen to tie him down to a new five-year deal running until 2028.
As revealed by Football Insider, Liverpool explored a sensational deadline day move for Sane after Al-Ittihad bid £150million for Mohamed Salah.

The Merseysiders were able to hang on to their star player but his future remains up in the air going into 2024 despite his own outstanding start to the new season.
Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a “huge admirer”, say sources, of countryman Sane and has identified him as a top-tier potential replacement for Salah.

The interest in the Egyptian icon from Saudi club Al Ittihad has not gone away and they will continue to push to sign him next year.
Bayern, who signed Harry Kane from Tottenham in the summer, have a reputation for getting mega-money deals done but are concerned about Liverpool’s interest in Sane.

He is regarded by Klopp and Liverpool staff as capable of filling Salah’s creative and goalscoring boots after already proving himself in the Premier League for Man City.

The Germany international left the Etihad Stadium for Bayern in a reported £54.8million deal back in 2020.
He scored 39 goals and provided 46 assists in 135 games for Pep Guardiola’s side, winning two Premier League titles.

The winger’s best return in the English top flight came in the 2017-18 season, when he managed 10 goals and 15 assists in 32 league games.
The Schalke youth product had spent most of his career on the left flank but has made a huge impact this season on the right.

He said: “Mo is welcome at any time. Mo is my personal favourite. There are many world-class players showing interest. It’s a place where you can go and have fun and definitely improve their economics.”
His seven Bundesliga matches have yielded six goals and he also scored for Bayern in their 4-3 Champions League win over Man United last month.
