Two goals were disallowed for the visitors, both decisions stemming from marginal offside calls aided by VAR. In the first, Cody Gakpo’s strike was ruled out, with the Dutchman adjudged to have marginally interfered with Virgil van Dijk’s vision despite not impacting the play or contesting the ball. Later, Harvey Elliott’s finish was denied after Mohamed Salah, in an offside position, was deemed to have blocked Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford’s view.
