Nedum Onuoha says £225,000-a-week Man City player is having an absolutely brilliant season
Nedum Onuoha believes Manchester City attacker Phil Foden is having an excellent season from midfield.
Recently, Pep Guardiola highlighted that the 23-year-old is playing some of the best football he has ever seen during his time in charge at the Etihad Stadium.
Izzy Christiansen also lauded the Englishman as she feels he has “world-class” traits to his game.
Nedum Onuoha says Phil Foden is “having a big say” for Manchester City this season
As the £225,000-a-week (Sport Rac) man bagged a cracking brace against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup, Leon Osman claimed that he has looked at his best in a more central position this campaign.
It seems like Foden’s displays this season have been impressing several pundits.
One of them is Nedum Onuoha, who raved about how Phil Foden has played in the middle of the park for Manchester City for much of the ongoing term.

“It’s good to see Phil Foden having a big say in that central role, it’s good to see him doing well. Obviously, things are going to be interesting now that the king is back in [Kevin] De Bruyne”, he told Sports Mole during an interview.
Nedum Onuoha went on to have his say on where he thinks Phil Foden will play once Kevin De Bruyne returns to Manchester City’s starting XI.
“It’s tough, that one. If De Bruyne comes back in, do you say Foden is going to go out wide, so Foden is playing instead of Bernardo Silva? I love Bernardo Silva. These are the sort of questions that need to be figured out.”
“I think for the manager, [Pep] Guardiola, it’s [finding] the right balance because he tries to put out a team that can win any game but he knows that every game is different. For one game, he might see De Bruyne and Foden playing centrally, another game you might see Foden out wide, another game you might see Bernardo Silva out wide, you might see [Julian] Alvarez playing in one of the attacking midfield slots alongside [Erling] Haaland, so he has options.”
Phil Foden is likely to mostly play on the wing once Kevin De Bruyne returns
Nedum Onouha is spot on about how influential Phil Foden has been in midfield for Manchester City this campaign.
While Onuoha felt Foden will be shifted between his current central role and out wide, it is likely that he will predominantly play out wide once De Bruyne returns to City’s starting line-up.
Considering Bernardo Silva is currently playing out wide, the Sky Blues academy graduate could take his place on the wing, with the former’s experience likely being favoured by Pep Guardiola alongside Kevin De Bruyne.
De Bruyne and Silva have played in tandem in the middle of the park for years and succeeded, with the latter also being far too useful off the ball not to play in midfield, especially against elite opposition.
