‘A big talent’… Bernardo Silva believes Man City are actually sitting on an absolute gem

Manchester City’s academy has been very fruitful indeed in recent years – and it looks to have produced one serious talent in Oscar Bobb.

Bobb made headlines at the weekend when he scored an injury-time winner against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

City were heading towards defeat, but Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench and flipped the game on its head, scoring and then providing a perfect assist for Bobb.

It was Bobb’s first goal in the Premier League for City – and he won’t score too many better ones in his career.

It is clear at this point that City have a huge talent on their hands, and that is not lost on Bernardo Silva, who raved over his teammate after the game…

De Bruyne has been gaining most of the plaudits since the weekend, with the Belgian undoubtedly making a significant impact at St. James’ Park.

But Bobb was ultimately the difference between one point and all three for City, and potentially that could be absolutely huge come the end of the season.

It was a sensational goal from Bobb, who showed such intelligence with the run he made and then the quick feet to finish. He did exactly what his manager told him, which was to go on and score.

It was a high-quality goal, and Bernardo Silva fully knows City have a special young player on their hands. He said (mancity.com): “It was an amazing goal from a player that came from the Academy. I’m so happy for him because of the way he works and he’s a big talent.

“It’s not easy to come through our team and he’s been doing it very well. The pass from Kevin (De Bruyne) as well – that helped. But yes, Oscar today gave us the three points and we’re so happy for him.”

Bobb could go right to the top

City must be absolutely delighted with what Bobb is showing right now, and it is becoming clearer by the game why the club felt comfortable sanctioning Cole Palmer’s exit.

Palmer is obviously thriving at Chelsea which is great, but Bobb’s potential is absolutely frightening and he could end up being a top, top player for City.

As Pep said, he has the quality and potential to stay many years if he wants to.

Apparently, director of football Txiki Begiristain actually alerted Pep to the progress of Bobb and the manager then brought him into his squad after winning the Treble. So far, the decision to do that is looking like a masterstroke.
