‘Better Make Him Stay’ ‘£100M And Let Him Go’ – Fans React As Romano Confirms City Ace Could Leave
Julian Alvarez is expected to hold talks with Manchester City about his future at the club following the conclusion of the Copa America, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing in his Daily Briefing column, Romano said the Argentinian international “wants to play more” and that could consequently lead to his departure from the Etihad.
There has been a mixed reaction to that claim on X with some fans hoping Alvarez will stay while others are incredulous that the player is demanding more game time:
Alvarez is being given plenty of minutes
There is a good reason why supporters are scratching their heads about the forward’s unhappiness. He started 39 times in all competitions last season, playing 3481 minutes in total.
It has been suggested that Alvarez is keen to play in more important games. He started just twice in the Champions League, having been named on the bench for both legs of the quarter-final against Real Madrid.
Who is interested in signing the City forward?
Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and even Arsenal have been suggested as possible suitors for Alvarez but Romano believes the only concrete interest is coming from Paris Saint-Germain at the moment.
The Ligue One champions may only make a move formal approach, though, if the Cityzens make it clear that they are willing to sell the 24-year-old.

Pep Guardiola is set to extend his stay at Manchester City beyond the summer of 2025, bringing relief to the club and fans who were uncertain about his future. Conversations with the club’s ownership and management in Abu Dhabi were positive, leading to Guardiola’s decision to remain at the Etihad Stadium. His family’s support and feeling of being at home in England were key factors in his decision.
Financially, Manchester City are willing to offer Guardiola £15 million a year to ensure his continued success at the club. The focus now shifts to preparing for the upcoming season, with central midfield recruits a top priority for the team. The club may also consider purchasing a new left-sided full-back and right-wing option to strengthen the squad.
Despite rumors, RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo is not currently being considered as a potential recruit, with little progress made on his £50 million release clause. Manchester City’s summer transfer window strategy is centered around securing players who can maintain the club’s success under Guardiola and Sheikh Mansour.
