Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been named The Best FIFA Men’s Coach 2023.

Guardiola entered the competition as the overwhelming favourite to win the award after a sublime year. At the helm since 2016, the Catalonian enjoyed his best season to date at the Etihad Stadium during 2022/23.

Incredibly, City managed to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup as the Blues lifted a historic Treble which has only been matched in England by Manchester United. The qualifying period ranged from December 19, 2022 and August 20, 2023 meaning a fourth trophy made it into Guardiola’s impressive resume as City beat Sevilla on penalties to win the UEFA Super Cup.

Speaking after picking up his award in London, Guardiola said: “I want to share this with our owners at Manchester City, with Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, who have believed in me since the beginning. On behalf of my backroom staff and myself, I would like to thank my players. Living with them over the past years has been a pleasure.”

Guardiola received 28 points to come out on top in the scoring which was ten more than ex-Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti and 17 more than Inter manager Simeone Inzaghi. The Blues’ winning did not stop there though as soon afterwards FIFA FIFPro Men’s World XI was announced.

A whopping six players were named in the team. Kyle Walker, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.

Here is the full XI – Courtois (Real Madrid); Walker (Manchester City), Stones (Manchester City), Dias (Manchester City); Bernardo (Manchester City), Bellingham (Real Madrid), De Bruyne (Manchester City); Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid)
