Rodri is one of the top performers in the English top-flight this season, in fact, he is yet to lose a single game. Rodri was a conspicuous omission, but his teammates Foden and Haland were a feature making them the only team outside Arsenal with Odegaard and Saka to have two players on the list.

What Guardiola said

The City praised Rodri, believing that he was deserving of a nomination, however, he maintained grace, as he added that the eight to make the cut were deserving of their spot.

“He has been one of the best. Those nominated deserve it and others deserve it too,” said Guardiola,” the Manchester City boss, per Manchester Evening News.

“What is important is he knows what we think about his importance and what a magnificent, extraordinary player he is. He should not be worried at all about that.”
