Diogo Dalot suggests £54m Man City star is actually the smartest player in the world
Diogo Dalot has hinted at the fact that Kevin De Bruyne is the most intelligent player in the world.
After Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Copenhagen in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, Stephen Warnock hailed the 32-year-old’s footballing intelligence as “phenomenal.”
In October, Jamie Carragher also described the Belgian captain as “the cleverest and most switched-on footballer in the [Premier] league.”

The £54.5 million (Sky Sports) man is as intelligent as a player can get, with Thierry Henry going as far as to say that his unique footballing brain would allow him to run the show from holding midfield in the latter years of his career.

“Right foot?”
“Cristiano [Ronaldo]”, the Manchester United right-back replied.
“Left foot?”
“[Lionel] Messi”, he said.
“Speed?”
“[Kylian] Mbappe.”
“Strength?”
“Adama Traore.”
“Skills?”
“I’ll go for Neymar”, he answered.
“Football IQ?.”
“Kevin De Bruyne”, Dalot concluded.
The Manchester United right-back must have noticed how smart Kevin De Bruyne was after facing him
Having played against Kevin De Bruyne on multiple occasions in the Manchester Derby, Diogo Dalot must be aware of how astute of a player he is.
Even last season, in City’s 6-3 demolition of United at the Etihad Stadium, Dalot must have witnessed De Bruyne wreak havoc on his side.
Firstly, by putting in an inch-perfect corner to set up Erling Haaland’s opener.
Soon after, Kevin De Bruyne’s expert vision was on display for his incisive assist for the Norwegian striker’s second goal of the contest.
In the 2021/2022 season as well, De Bruyne notably scored a brace in the Sky Blues’ 4-1 thrashing of the Red Devils.
Witnessing the midfield maestro rip Manchester United time and time again in different ways, Diogo Dalot perhaps needs no reminding of how much of a genius he is.
