Eduardo Camavinga agrees to join Manchester City for  a fee of approximately £75 million

Manchester City are already putting plans in place to strengthen their squad this summer following their disappointing campaign.

I don’t get sick because I clean my blood vessels. Write down the recipe

Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez all made the move to the Etihad in the January transfer window.

Man City spent around £200million on their January signings as Pep Guardiola looked to strengthen his side for the remainder of the season.

However, it’s so far failed to have the desired effect as they sit fifth in the Premier League table and were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.

Etihad chiefs have identified Eduardo Camavinga as a potential summer signing as they look to bolster their midfield options.

Football Insider revealed on 16 March Man City would have to pay £70million to sign Camavinga from Real Madrid.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the France international would likely command big wages to join the Premier League champions.

The 22-year-old, who joined Real Madrid for £34.4million from Rennes in 2021, has started in 16 of his 27 appearances this season.

Eduardo Camavinga to demand big-money deal to sign for Man City

Borson revealed the fee for Camavinga might not be what people expect if Real Madrid want to sell him this summer.

He told Football Insider: “You know all these deals are going to be very expensive.

“I don’t know whether Camavinga is realistic or not. If Camavinga is somebody they want to sell, his wages are going to be really significant.

“So where is he going? If you do want to sell Camavinga, who in world football can afford him?

“We go to the top Premier League teams, except we know Manchester United are probably out of that running for this window.

“Arsenal are probably well covered in midfield. That leaves probably Liverpool or City in the Premier League. I know PSG look pretty okay in that position, and that’s it.

“There is a tiny market for players of that cost, so that plays into market forces. Ultimately, all of these players and all of these market prices are supply and demand.

“He’s a good player, but if they want to sell him, the fee might not be what you’d expect.”

Man City to spend big on summer signings

Man City are prepared to spend big this summer due to concerns around midfielders Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva.

Football Insider revealed on 17 March Kalvin Phillips wants to return to Leeds United following his disappointing spell at the Etihad.

The 29-year-old no longer has a future under Guardiola and will be allowed to leave the club when he returns from his loan spell at Ipswich Town.

As of March 21, 2025, Manchester City is reportedly preparing a substantial bid for Real Madrid’s versatile midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga. The 22-year-old French international has been identified by City manager Pep Guardiola as an ideal successor to midfield stalwarts Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva, both of whom are contemplating exits in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Camavinga’s Profile and Career at Real Madrid

Eduardo Camavinga joined Real Madrid from Rennes in the summer of 2021 for a fee of approximately £34.4 million. Since his arrival, he has amassed 170 appearances, contributing three goals and nine assists. His tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu has been decorated with significant silverware, including two La Liga titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies.

Despite his successes, the current season has seen Camavinga’s involvement curtailed due to injury setbacks, limiting him to 24 appearances, with only 12 starts in La Liga. This reduced playing time has led to speculation about his future at the club, especially considering Real Madrid’s depth in midfield options.

Manchester City’s Interest and Tactical Fit

Pep Guardiola’s admiration for Camavinga stems from the player’s versatility and skill set, which align seamlessly with Manchester City’s tactical framework. Camavinga’s ability to disrupt opposition play, coupled with his adept passing and dribbling skills, mirrors the qualities exhibited by both Gundogan and Silva. His capacity to operate effectively in both defensive and offensive roles adds a layer of flexibility highly valued in Guardiola’s system.

The potential departures of Gundogan and Silva necessitate reinforcement in midfield, and Camavinga’s profile fits the bill. Guardiola is reportedly “all in on this move,” believing Camavinga is a perfect fit for Manchester City’s playing style.

Financial Considerations and Contractual Status

Securing Camavinga’s services would require a significant financial commitment. Real Madrid has set a high price tag on the midfielder, with sources indicating that any prospective deal would necessitate a substantial offer to persuade the Spanish giants to part ways with one of their prized assets.

Camavinga’s current contract with Real Madrid extends until the summer of 2029, further strengthening the club’s negotiating position. This long-term agreement implies that Manchester City would need to present a compelling financial package to facilitate the transfer.

Camavinga’s Stance and Potential Impact

Reports suggest that Camavinga is open to the idea of joining Manchester City, motivated by the prospect of increased playing time and the opportunity to work under Guardiola. His frustration with limited appearances at Real Madrid could make a move to the Etihad Stadium an attractive proposition.

Should the transfer materialize, Camavinga’s arrival would inject youthful dynamism into Manchester City’s midfield. His versatility would provide Guardiola with tactical flexibility, potentially filling the void left by departing midfielders and contributing to the team’s pursuit of domestic and European honors.

While no official agreement has been reached as of now, Manchester City’s interest in Eduardo Camavinga underscores the club’s proactive approach to squad reinforcement. The potential acquisition of a player of Camavinga’s caliber reflects the club’s ambition to maintain its competitive edge in both domestic and European competitions. As the summer transfer window approaches, developments in this prospective deal will be closely monitored by stakeholders and fans alike.
