England FA fined Kyle Walker and Erling Haarland £10,000 each after video Arsenal row with Man City star Erling Haaland emerges.
A report from the Manchester Evening News stated that members of Guardiola’s squad were disappointed by Jover’s actions last season, with the German coach said to have refused to shake their hands after the reigning champions’ two league victories over the Gunners last term. The FA did not take any action regarding the incident.
Kyle Walker involved in furious bust-up with Arsenal coach after Man City’s 1-0 defeat at the Emirates – sparking a mass confrontation between both benches with Erling Haaland involved
Kyle Walker was involved in a heated tunnel bust-up with an Arsenal backroom staff member over an apparent handshake snub as the Gunners triumphed over Manchester City 1-0.
Arsenal inflicted Man City’s second loss in a row, the first time Pep Guardiola’s side have lost back-to-back games in five years.
Manchester City star Kyle Walker was involved in a touchline row following Arsenal’s 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium prior to the international break. Mikel Arteta’s men were able to clinch all three points thanks to an 86th-minute strike from substitute Gabriel Martinelli, with his effort taking a huge deflection off Citizens defender Nathan Ake.
Tempers were high after the game and Walker and teammate Erling Haaland were seen confronting a group heading towards the tunnel.
After the full-time whistle, tempers flared as footage showed arguments and pushing between City right-back Walker and Gunners set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, who was previously employed at the Etihad Stadium. Jover looked to shake his former colleague’s hand near the tunnel, a gesture that clearly annoyed Walker, and City boss Pep Guardiola admitted that he and Arsenal both knew why the incident had occurred but would not share the details.
The right back squared up to Nicolas Jover, the Arsenal set-piece coach who had worked for the Manchester club between 2019 and 2021, after appearing to ignore Jover’s gesture.
Haaland subsequently tried to pull his team-mate away before further staff members and security got in-between the pair.
Walker was clearly still holding onto some frustrations following Martinelli’s late winner at the Emirates Stadium – and now a video has emerged showing the England international’s on-field reaction to Arsenal’s goal. Walker was spotted clutching his shorts, grimacing in frustration as the Gunners celebrated following Martinelli’s deflected strike after it looked like the points would be shared.
Last Sunday’s result leaves the north London outfit level on points and goal difference with Premier League leaders Tottenham Hotspur, who sit top of the pile due to scoring more goals so far this season. After the ongoing international break, Arteta’s side will travel to Stamford Bridge, where they will face Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
The Blues have not started the season well, but come into the game with the Gunners following three consecutive wins in all competitions. Arteta will be hoping he is able to select both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba for the clash against Chelsea.
