Manchester City are into the semi-finals of the FA Cup

Manchester City came from behind to reach the FA Cup semi-finals after seeing off Bournemouth 2-1 on Sunday.

The Blues trailed to an Evanilson goal in the first half that came after Erling Haaland saw a penalty saved. But the City striker levelled after the break before going off injured. His replacement Omar Marmoush then came on and made an immediate impact when scoring what proved to be the winner.

It means City will play Nottingham Forest at Wembley in the last four and between now and then the Blues will hope to take strides in their quest for a top four finish in the league.

We’ve had three weeks without Premier League football but the top flight returns with a bang this week. There is a full set of midweek fixtures before the weekend schedule as the race to the finish line begins.

And while Liverpool seem certain to win the title, the battle for the Champions League places is an intense one involving a clutch of clubs. Arsenal and Nottingham Forest are well placed but five points separate seven clubs from fourth to 10th.

City, currently fifth, will be confident of securing Champions League football next season but they won’t be taking anything for granted based on how the campaign has gone so far with the likes of Newcastle United and Brighton a point behind.
