Manchester City supporters hilariously mocked their side’s dismal form this season with a three-word chant during their game against Leicester City.

City, the winner of six of the past seven Premier League titles, have sensationally tasted victory just once in their past 13 top-flight matches, losing nine.

As a result, they came into their trip to the King Power on Sunday 12 points adrift of leaders Liverpool and in danger of missing out on Champions League football.

But with Pep Guardiola doubling down on his commitment to the cause, having insisted he will continue to fight, spirits remain surprisingly high among matchgoers.

This much was proven after City took the lead against the Foxes in the first half.

Winger Savinho scored his first goal for the club after pouncing on Jakub Stolarczyk’s parry and sweeping the rebound high into the roof of the net.

After he raced away to celebrate with his team-mates, the away end audibly broke out into a chant that even left Sky Sports commentator Seb Hutchinson giggling.

To the tune of ‘Football’s Coming Home’, a hit long associated with England at major tournaments, they sang: ‘We’re staying up, we’re staying. City’s staying up.’

This, of course, was a not-so-subtle dig at City’s woes this campaign, although Guardiola will hope a result against Leicester will kickstart an improved run.

Ahead of the game, he said: ‘Sometimes you expect it will be earlier or easier to fix but sometimes you take more time and I will not give up. I want to be here.

‘I want to do it [fix City’s form].

‘Now we go to Leicester, which will be difficult. We will to try to play a good game and the players will be ready to do it.’

Encouraged by his players’ continued efforts, Guardiola added: ‘I see the team, the spirit, how [they] train, how focused they are.

‘Of course I want it, everybody wants it. I don’t want to disappoint my people, in terms of the club, the fans or the people who love this club but we give them these [poor] results.’
