Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City celebrates scoring his side’s second goal with team-mate Savinho during the Premier League match between Manches…

While Manchester City are only two games into the 2024/2025 Premier League season, a case could be made that they already look superior to last season.

During the 2023/2024 season, however, Pep Guardiola’s men accumulated an impressive 91 points — with only six teams in Premier League history surpassing their point tally.

Yet, several factors indicate that Manchester City look even more dangerous this campaign.

The dynamic duo of Savinho and Jeremy Doku out wide is one that has added more spark to this City side.

Pep Guardiola has claimed Erling Haaland looks “sharper” this season; a worrying prospect for defences across the Premier League.

Martin Keown’s verdict on Ilkay Gundogan’s return to the club is that his signing has made it even more “difficult” to usurp Manchester City to the league title.

Gabby Agbonlahor makes Kevin De Bruyne claim about Premier League title

Kyle Walker questioned why City cannot win the league for the fifth time in succession.

All signs currently point towards the English giants maintaining their stranglehold over the title.

However, the Premier League reminds the world every campaign that it is a marathon and not a sprint.

Yet, it is also fair to make conclusions based on how every side looks and pass judgement as well.

Gabby Agbonlahor has now claimed that with Kevin De Bruyne fit and firing from the very start, Manchester City will win the title by more than two points as compared to last season if he stays injury-free.

On talkSPORT, the pundit claimed: “I think now that he is back fit and if he can be fit for the whole season, they will win the league by more than two points this time. I just look at his pass for [Erling] Haaland’s goal. A lot of midfielders don’t even see that ball.”

“He sees this tiny gap to play in behind for Haaland and great finish from Haaland. And also, he was in and around the edge of the box to take his goal well but it’s the range of passing he has got, he has still got that range of passing that he can show. When he gets the ball, every player can make whatever run they want, so for me, it was a very good performance once again from Kevin De Bruyne.”

De Bruyne will be fired up to have a big say on Man City’s title charge

From a personal point of view, the £54.5 million man will be fired up to make his mark on City’s title charge.

While De Bruyne looked sharp upon his return to fitness and registered 14 goal involvements (four goals and 10 assists) last season, the Belgian’s injury meant he only made 15 league starts.

As the midfield maestro is fully-fit and well-rested after Euro 2024, he has the chance to have a massive say on the title race once again.

The 33-year-old will be in the right space, both physically and mentally to carry on his brilliant start to the season right until the end.

As long as Pep Guardiola can manage the ageing De Bruyne’s fitness, it seems a fool’s errand to write him off.

The six-time Premier League winner still has an extraordinary passing range, one of a kind vision and invaluable experience to lead Manchester City to glory.

Whether Arsenal’s additions of Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino can elevate them will be intriguing to witness.

But Gabby Agbonlahor’s confidence is one of the greatest players the Premier League has ever seen is warranted.
