Steve McManaman was full of praise for a player who Manchester City reportedly have on their radar in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Rodri became the first City player at Euro 2024 who is confirmed to partake in the final of the tournament.
Thanks to Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo’s strikes cancelling Kolo Muani’s opener out, Spain beat France 2-1 and will either play the Netherlands or England on Sunday.
Only time will tell whether the Three Lions’ Phil Foden, John Stones or Kyle Walker or the Dutch’s Nathan Ake will face Rodri in what looks guaranteed to be a final for the ages.

Steve McManaman hails “excellent” Man City target Dani Olmo
A player who starred in Spain’s latest triumph was Olmo — scoring a delightful winning goal after flicking the ball past Aurelien Tchouameni and firing the ball past Mike Maignan in between the sticks.
Jules Kounde’s attempt to stop Luis de La Fuente’s side taking the lead was rendered futile — as his right-foot only pushed the ball into the back of the net.
On Tuesday, it was claimed that after witnessing the 26-year-old’s starring display in his country’s 2-1 victory against Germany, City were considering whether to sign the RB Leipzig attacker this summer.
How Manchester City feel about signing Olmo after his brilliant performance for Spain against France in the semi-final of the European Championship will be interesting to discover — with Steve McManaman now also lauding him,
The pundit said via ESPN FC: “You wonder, prior to the Pedri injury whether he would’ve been on the pitch as much as he has been. He was excellent in the last game, he was excellent again today.”
“It was a lovely goal, as Craig [Burley] said, the way he controlled the ball and then flips it past [Aurelien] Tchouameni was fantastic. I’m glad, UEFA eventually gave him the goal because he deserved it with his play.”
Dani Olmo is making a case for Man City to try signing him after Spain beat France
Whether City make a move for Olmo in the summer transfer window or not, game after game at Euro 2024, he continues to make a strong case about why they should try to secure his signature.
The Spanish international — who has a £50.6 million release clause in his contract seems like a perfect fit for a Pep Guardiola side.
Olmo’s ability to play across the front line, his eye for goal, intelligent movement between the lines and stunning technique makes him the archetypal Guardiola player.
Furthermore, the versatile attacker’s footballing education emerged in the famed La Masia academy as well — much like the Manchester City boss — who has helped turn several of the academy’s graduates into global phenoms.
Having performed for Spain at a competition as prestigious as the European Championship, City could find it tougher and tougher to find reasons not to put their name in the hat for his signature.
