Richard Keys has laid into Pep Guardiola for his decision to speak at length with Jack Grealish moments after the final whistle between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The reigning champions found themselves frustrated at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday with Mikel Arteta’s side putting in a superbly disciplined defensive performance to claim a draw. With Arsenal and City dropping points, Liverpool are now top of the Premier League table with Guardiola labelling them as the new title favourites.

“Yes [Liverpool are favourites for the title,]” he told Sky Sports after the 0-0 draw against Arsenal. “Always who is first is favourites, second is Arsenal and we are third. It was in our hands, now it’s not. All we can do is think of Aston Villa. If you are top of the league – like we’ve been before – you are favourites.”

With action in the clash limited, what happened after the game was perhaps more entertaining with Erling Haaland and Gabriel Magalhaes clashing. The duo had already come to blows in the late stages of the game with Haaland believing he had been fouled in the penalty area by Gabriel, however the latter did not take too kindly to his decision to fall to the ground under his challenge.

Guardiola and Declan Rice were also closely involved in their full-time exchange with the Man City boss stepping in moments after grilling Grealish. The England international came on just after the hour-mark and struggled to make an impact with Guardiola heading onto the pitch to speak to Grealish before gesticulating how he could have done things differently in the final moments of the clash.

Understandably, with arms flailing, cameras captured the conversation with Keys slamming Guardiola for his actions. “Save it for the dressing room,” he said on beIN SPORTS. “It’s all for the cameras, it is so tiresome. Go down the tunnel, he shouldn’t even be on the pitch. Now he’s got to go and tell everybody else what they did wrong.”

Guardiola has previously been accused of ‘playing up to the cameras’, with a fiery conversation between himself and Haaland captured at half-time of the season opener against Burnley, despite the Man City striker scoring twice.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also faced criticism for excessively celebrating when the camera is on him after victories for the Reds, with his fist-bump celebration to the Kop becoming a regular occurrence.
