‘I can’t believe’… Gary Neville is certain over when Pep Guardiola will be leaving Manchester City
Gary Neville is convinced Pep Guardiola will be leaving Manchester City in the near future.
City are once again on the trophy hunt this season after claiming a historic treble last term.
They are even on for an unprecedented back-to-back treble as they are still going strong in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
But Manchester United great Neville is hoping Guardiola’s time in charge at the Etihad Stadium won’t last much longer.

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Neville said: “I can’t believe Pep is going to hang around for more than 12 months or so.
“I can’t believe he is going to be there for another two, three or four years. I can’t believe he is going to be there for more than another 18 months.”

Will Gary Neville get his wish?
As a United supporter, it’s no wonder Neville wants to see the back of Guardiola at City.
The Catalonian’s eventual departure will be the biggest challenge the club has faced in years because how do you replace the best manager in the game?
Even if City make a great appointment, it’s still going to be a downgrade and United themselves are the best example of how losing such an important figure at the club can send you into decline.
City are a far better-run organisation than United were in 2013 to deal with Guardiola’s exit but when everything has been designed for his success, it will still hurt when he leaves.
But will Neville get his wish? Guardiola is currently contracted until the summer of 2025 and he will almost certainly stay with the club until then at least. But it remains up in the air if he remains after that.
On one hand, it’s a very stressful job that he would have done for nine years at that point. He may think it’s time for a break and recently said how good they can be when discussing Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave Liverpool.
On the other, Guardiola has created a legacy at City and everything at the club is finely attuned for him to achieve success.
Why not keep that going? Only time will tell.
