I’m not giving up, I want to be here: Pep Guardiola speaks on Manchester City poor performance

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has vowed to push on and restore the team’s lost spark, despite their current poor run of form, according to Sportskeeda. The Citizens have lost nine of their last 13 matches across competitions, and are currently sitting in seventh position in the Premier League table. However, Guardiola remains determined to turn things around, and has expressed his commitment to the club and its fans.

Speaking ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming match against Leicester City on Sunday, December 29, Guardiola emphasized his desire to succeed and make the fans proud. “Of course I want it, everyone wants it,” he said. “I will not give up. I want to be here, I want to do it and with the situation we have I have to do it. I don’t want to disappoint my people in terms of the club, the fans, the people who love this place.”

Guardiola’s comments suggest that he is feeling the pressure of Manchester City’s poor run of form, but he is refusing to give up. He has been in charge of the club since 2016, and has enjoyed a highly successful spell, winning six Premier League titles and numerous other trophies. However, the current season has been a challenging one, with the team struggling to find consistency and rhythm.

The Manchester City manager has attributed the team’s poor form to the loss of key players to injury, and has expressed his confidence that the team will improve once they return to full strength. “Sometimes you have injuries,” he said. “For many years we were incredibly consistent but now, yes, we are a little bit down and the main reason is having so many important players injured. But I saw the team spirit, how we train, how focused they are and how they try to practice. We saw that against Everton but unfortunately we couldn’t get a result.”

Guardiola’s comments also suggest that he is aware of the comparisons being made between the current Manchester City team and the team that suffered a humbling 4-2 defeat to Leicester City during his first season at the Etihad in 2016. However, he has dismissed these comparisons, emphasizing the significant evolution his team has undergone over the years. “I don’t know how to relate it,” he said. “Well comparing one situation to eight, nine years ago, I don’t know if it’s fair enough. I don’t know how to relate it from one to the other one. That season was the first year with more or less the squad there, I don’t know in what month it was, it was a low point, right? But after we built what we built and now I don’t see similarities, to be honest. I don’t see it.”

The upcoming match against Leicester City will be a crucial test for Manchester City, and Guardiola will be hoping to see an improvement in the team’s performance. The Foxes have been in good form this season, and will provide a tough challenge for the Citizens. However, Guardiola’s experience and expertise suggest that he has the ability to motivate the team and get them back on track.
