Kai Havertz makes claim about Man City’s Rodri which some fans are disagreeing with
Some football fans are disagreeing with the praise Kai Havertz has given to Manchester City star Rodri.
The Arsenal playmaker was asked by GoalGlobal on TikTok to create his ultimate footballer by selecting a different star for each trait.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were selected for the left foot and right foot, respectively, Kylian Mbappe was picked for his pace and skill and Brazilian forward Hulk was chosen for his strength.
Then came the apparently controversial selection of Rodri, who Havertz picked for his football IQ. It’s a decision some viewers criticised the German for in the comments.

Fans disagree with Kai Havertz on Rodri
A lot of football fans in the comments took umbrage with the selection of Rodri, with the first writing: “Rodri over Zidane or Xavi or Cruyff,” with a skull emoji, to which others else added: ‘Or Iniesta’ and ‘or Pirlo.’

Another fan wrote: ‘Rodri for IQ,’ accompanied with shock faced emojis while another asked if: ‘He say Rodri?’ with yet another skull.
There were also suggestions that Messi, Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric, David Silva, Mesut Ozil and even Thomas Muller should have been picked instead of the Spaniard.
Kai Havertz wasn’t wrong
It’s hard to understand how anyone could have watched football over the last year – if not over the last four – and not come to the conclusion that Rodri is an incredibly intelligent footballer with unrivalled IQ on the pitch.
Being the lynchpin of a treble-winning Pep Guardiola side alone should earn such acclaim before you even look at the 27-year-old’s immense influence on the team.
Rodri is arguably City’s most important player – even more so than Erling Haaland or De Bruyne – as he stitches it all together and makes the team tick.
The midfielder has now gone a full calendar year without suffering defeat in 90 minutes, yet, in the four games he has not been available for this season City have lost.
Add to that a litany of crucial goals, including a Champions League final-winning strike – you simply can’t disagree with Havertz’s pick.
