It’s the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday, where Manchester City host Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola’s men are chasing Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table while Erik ten Hag’s United are bidding to stay in the hunt for the UEFA Champions League places. A 2-1 home defeat to Fulham last time out halted United’s recent good run of results in the top flight and cast further doubt over the future of their under-pressure manager.

Rasmus Hojlund is expected to be out of the clash as he’s still recovering from a muscle injury, leaving United with decisions to make for their front three. There is no such worry for City, who are expected to start Erling Haaland — who scored five goals in the FA Cup win at Luton Town this week — as the spearhead of their attack.

The Sporting News takes a look at the team news and injury latest for each squad, and who is expected to start the game.

Jack Grealish has suffered a fresh injury setback and will miss out this weekend. Josko Gvardiol is also a doubt, despite returning to training this week.

Guardiola rested Ederson, Ruben Dias and Rodri for their impressive 6-2 FA Cup win at Luton, and the trio will return, with Julian Alvarez set to replace Grealish.

Man City predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Walker, Dias, Akanji, Ake — Rodri, Stones — Foden, De Bruyne, Alvarez — Haaland.

Man City subs (9): TBC

Injured: Grealish, Gvardiol (doubt)

Suspended: None.

Ten Hag is still without eight first-team players for this clash. Harry Maguire is not expected to be back, having sat out the midweek FA Cup win at Nottingham Forest, and Rasmus Hojlund is still injured.

Victor Lindelof or Sofyan Amrabat will likely fill in once more as a makeshift left-back, with Jonny Evans a possible starter at centre-back alongside Raphael Varane. Kobbie Mainoo is expected to slot back in to midfield after he started on the bench against Forest.

Man United predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Onana (GK) — Dalot, Varane, Evans, Lindelof — Casemiro, Mainoo — Forson, Fernandes, Garnacho — Rashford.

Injured: Martinez, Mount, Malacia, Shaw, Hojlund, Martial, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka

Suspended: None.
