Liverpool transfer News: formal Man City star eyed as Jurgen Klopp gives update on trio
The final transfer window of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool tenure is nearing its end, and questions remain over how many more additions the manager needs to make to his squad

Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo has emerged as an option for Liverpool
Liverpool find themselves both preparing for life after Jurgen Klopp and trying to ensure he has a squad capable of delivering one last Premier League title.
Klopp will leave at the end of the season and made the announcement of his departure with the Reds fighting on four fronts. They sit top of the league ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League meeting with Chelsea – who they will then face in the Carabao Cup final – while FA Cup and Europa League dreams remain alive.
With time running out before the January transfer window shuts, Liverpool will need to decide whether to stick or twist. Essentially, has the squad which took them top of the pile be able to keep them there.
The coming summer will also be important for the Merseyside club, who need to ensure Klopp’s successor – whoever that is – has a squad to fit their aims. Here are the latest lines from a time of change around Anfield.
Tosin emerges as summer option
Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo could make a summer move to Anfield as Liverpool look to strengthen at the back over the summer. The centre-back, who began his career at Manchester City, will be a free agent when his contract at Craven Cottage expires.
Liverpool aren’t the only side keen on the 6’5″ defender. AC Milan have kept an eye on the 26-year-old, while Tottenham weighed up a move last summer before eventually moving for Micky van de Ven.
Tosin made his 100th league appearance for Fulham this season, having been a near ever-present when Marco Silva’s side won promotion to the Premier League in 2022. With Joel Matip potentially moving on when his own contract expires in the summer, he could be a ready-made replacement.
Phillips set for Championship loan
Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips will finish the season at Cardiff City, with a loan move to South Wales on the cards according to The Athletic. Phillips spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Celtic but was recalled by his parent club before being sent out again.
The 26-year-old played just eight times for Celtic, with just six of those appearances in the league. That’s still than he managed last season in Liverpool colours, though.

Phillips, whose Anfield contract expires in 2025, arrives at Cardiff as a replacement for Jonathan Panzo. The Nottingham Forest defender began the season on loan with the Bluebirds but has since moved on loan to Belgian side Standard Liege.
Klopp opens up on players’ futures
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t expect his own Liverpool exit to be followed by those of some of his big-name players. The Reds lost the likes of Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson last summer, while Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah all have 18 months on their current deals.
Van Dijk admitted he didn’t know about his own longer-term future, but Klopp urged calm on Tuesday. “Things need time. Don’t worry. It is fine,” the manager said.
“The boys love this place. I know that for a fact. It is not that they have one foot out. They want to know a little bit of perspective but that is there and will happen, especially behind the scenes.
“A week ago, when no one knew about my situation, no one asked. Nobody has to worry. This club is stable, 100 per cent, and everything will be fine, I am 100 per cent sure. I would recommend to stay calm in this department, massively. There is enough time to do everything.”
