‘Madness’… Rio Ferdinand says it is ‘crazy’ how good £378,000-a-week man at Man City has been

Rio Ferdinand has claimed that it is “crazy” what Pep Guardiola has managed to achieve during his eight-year spell at Manchester City.

According to Neil Warnock, not only is his City side the best he has ever seen but the Catalan tactician is also the greatest manager of all time in his opinion.

Nathan Ake also recently admitted that he would not wish for the Spaniard to decide to leave the Etihad Stadium in the same vein as Jurgen Klopp did last week.

Carles Puyol, who also worked with the 53-year-old at Barcelona claimed that what differentiates the £378,846-a-week coach from most other managers is that his teams are easily identifiable due to his signature brand of football.

Rio Ferdinand also hailed Pep Guardiola for how successful he has been during his spell at Manchester City.

MORE MAN CITY STORIES

“[Sir Alex Ferguson] Fergie, Pep [Guardiola], what Pep’s done is a madness. Regardless of what you can say about these issues [Manchester City’s alleged financial breaches] or what not but in terms of creating a team to play mad football and ring out win after win, the points tallies they’ve got, crazy man”, he said on FIVE’s official YouTube channel.

Rio Ferdinand did agree that Pep Guardiola is yet to have taken over a side in his career that either had never won a league title or failed to win one in years.

“I agree, I agree.”

“Maybe Barcelona, were they winning before him?”

“Yeah, that’s an achievement that Pep will not have, that’s fine.”

“Pep’s done a madness. They’re going to win four on the bounce, no one’s ever done that.”

Rio Ferdinand also ranked Pep Guardiola as the second-greatest manager in Premier League history.

“Fergie, Pep, [Arsene] Wenger, I think [Jose] Mourinho and Wenger will go side-by-side for me for different reasons. And then [Jurgen] Klopp.”

Where Pep Guardiola is placed amongst managers in the Premier League by the masses once his time at Manchester City comes to an end will be interesting to see but as Rio Ferdinand claimed, it is undeniable how much he has achieved in English football.
