Man City boss Guardiola reveals Grealish recovery plan

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about the fitness of midfielder Jack Grealish.
The winger has been struggling with injury issues all season, disrupting his game time.
Guardiola states that Grealish will have a special plan to get him fit for the final months of the season.
He has 10 days to train, we have a plan for him and he will be ready,” he stated after a 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter finals.
I said to the team every three days we have a game with finals in the Premier League, Champions League and everyone is going to help us. No player can sustain every three days.
After Arsenal, [Aston] Villa then [Crystal Palace at] Selhurst Park then Madrid.
Everyone will be needed to handle it. As much as we get players fit we have more chance of success.
We take it game-by-game. I don’t think much longer than that.”

Chelsea boss Pochettino on being booed: I’m not here to do what people want
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was asked about his supporters’ feelings towards him. The Argentine has not always had the best relationship with the Stamford Bridge crowd since taking charge in the summer. After a 4-2 FA Cup win over Leicester City that took them into the semi finals, Pochettino was asked if the fans trusted him. He then stated: You need to ask, I think you have maybe a better opportunity to talk with the people, all the fans, you know that I saw in the on the street, they always show my, the support of them. But of course, if we are playing and we concede a goal its 2-2 like this or they feel sometimes the emotion because they are disappointed, but it’s normal that they show the, that they are not agree with some of course decision or because it’s the feeling. But as I think we have very clever fans that they realize of the situation and then when they are on the street, you know, I was open to talk with them and they show the support.” On the fan reaction to him taking off Mykhailo Muydrk instead of Raheem Sterling, he finished: No. That is why I made the decision. I am not here to do what the people want. Also, I am not stupid. I am not expressed to do this to go again. You know, I think for me, I saw Mudryk and we analyze and he was tired, he was doing some stretching and we thought that maybe he’d not finish the game and then we will decide, you know, to go for first for Mudryk and then for Raheem. That is because we need to see everything we are professional and we want to win but of course, complete understand the situation. That doesn’t mean that I agree. But look, we are going to support Mykhailo, we are going to support Raheem and we are going to support all the players that are in the squad that is big because in the program, you, you don’t have the program here that today [Asks for the matchday program and holds it up]. People say, ‘Oh big squad.’ But did you see the names [points to the names at the end of the list] under 18, under 18, under 18, under 18, under 21, under 21, under 21. And sometimes people you can confuse, you know, ‘Big squad.’ You know why we use too many and we put here because we use this guy few minutes in Carabao Cup, in the FA Cup or in Premier League because of the circumstance. It’s only, no, sometimes people want to talk like I want to be nice on we have yes, because we are not going to hide nothing. Big squad is long because we had too many in player on the first team and we should use all the kids that are helping us. For second time in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Fa Cup in Wembley. That is always when I arrive to England, at Southampton they say ‘No, we need to go to Wembley.’ ‘We need to go to Wembley.’ Southampton and Tottenham, ‘We need to go to Wembley to go to and now look in, in nine months in the two different competition, we got Wembley and we need to enjoy and we need to trust more. I really believe I am a person, very positive person. I really believe in our fans. I really believe in the club and really believe the most important in the staff that we have today because all the staff is, you know, is fantastic and of course in our player, young, but I am ensuring a lot trying to help them to achieve what they, they won and of course, altogether we will succeed. No doubt.”

Broncos’ plans at QB are taking shape after refusing to sign veteran during first wave of…
Surprisingly, the Denver Broncos haven’t added another veteran quarterback; however, overpaying for a veteran passer makes little sense when the team is rebuilding. “The Broncos can bring in Ryan Tannehill or another vagabond if they choose,” wrote Troy Renck of The Denver Post. “But at this point, it makes sense to stick with Jarrett Stidham. He is the quintessential quarterback for a rebuild. His ceiling could very well be his floor.” Stidham struggled in two starts last season, going 1-1 and posting a below-average 31.1 QBR. While Denver could sign a former Pro Bowler in Tannehill, why would it do that when it’s not in a position to make a playoff run? The Broncos can’t make significant roster improvements due to salary-cap issues and a lack of draft capital. Per ESPN’s Jeff Legwold, the team is carrying $67M in cap charges for players no longer on the roster, including $53M from Russell Wilson’s release. According to Tankathon, they only have two picks through the first three rounds of the NFL Draft. Denver has the 12th overall pick of the draft, which puts it within range to take a QB, perhaps Oregon’s Bo Nix or Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. In his latest mock draft, ESPN’s Field Yates had the Broncos taking Nix. “He was incredibly efficient last season at Oregon, completing 77.4 percent of his throws and tossing 45 touchdown passes to three interceptions,” Yates wrote of the 24-year-old. “It has been a transformative offseason for the franchise, with Denver releasing Wilson and safety Justin Simmons and trading receiver Jerry Jeudy. Nix would help get things back on track.” Committing to a rebuild with a young QB is the right choice. The franchise has missed the playoffs for eight straight seasons, the second-longest drought in the NFL behind the New York Jets, and must restock the roster to turn things around.

Steelers continue big day by adding Super Bowl-winning WR
Making a major switch at quarterback — a matter that cleared up Friday via the Kenny Pickett trade — the Steelers are in need at wide receiver after moving Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson off the roster. An ex-Robinson teammate will be part of the plan. The team is bringing in Van Jefferson, per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac. Giving Jefferson a one-year deal, Pittsburgh is eyeing the former second-round Rams draftee as a depth piece. A second-generation NFL receiver, Jefferson is changing teams for the second time in six months. The Rams moved Jefferson’s rookie contract to the Falcons early last season; the deal did not move the needle for an Atlanta team that struggled to find a reliable complement for Drake London at the position. Jefferson, 27, only caught 20 passes for 209 yards between his Rams and Falcons stints last year. Jefferson’s most notable NFL work came back in 2021, when he helped a Rams team that changed WR2s midseason. Odell Beckham Jr. effectively replaced Robert Woods, with the latter suffering an ACL tear days after the OBJ addition. Jefferson stayed the course and totaled 802 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He added nine receptions for 102 yards in the playoffs, collecting a Super Bowl ring soon after. A knee surgery kept the Florida alum on the shelf for much of 2022. He totaled 369 yards in 11 games in 2022 — snagging the game-winner in Baker Mayfield‘s memorable debut — for a disappointing Rams team. The Johnson trade solidifies George Pickens as their top wide receiver. While his long-range work would stand to benefit new QB1 Russell Wilson, the Steelers will add more pieces here. Only slot player Calvin Austin resides as a notable auxiliary option beyond Jefferson. Considering the franchise’s success adding at this position in the draft, that should be considered a mortal lock given this class’ depth.

Oren Burks will remain in the NFC for 2024, but for the second time in his career he is set to join a new team. The veteran linebacker and special teamer has agreed to a one-year deal with a maximum value of $2.5M, as first reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Burks, 28, began his career with the Packers, playing four seasons with the franchise. He was primarily used on special teams over that span, although he logged four starts as a rookie and three in his final year in Green Bay. Upon the conclusion of his rookie contract, Burks joined the 49ers on a two-year, $5M deal. The former third-rounder was still a third phase mainstay during his debut campaign in San Francisco with a special teams snap share of 77%. However, he started three games that season and saw that figure rise to five in 2023. Burks logged 326 defensive snaps last season, by far the most of his career. He parlayed that added playing time into a new career-high in tackles (46) and sacks (one) while also recording his first career interception. San Francisco could be without Dre Greenlaw to start the 2024 campaign after he suffered an Achilles tear during the Super Bowl. The 49ers have responded by adding De’Vondre Campbell on a one-year contract and retaining Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles on a one-year pact of his own. The latter has seen sparse usage on defense to date, but Burks’ departure could open the door to a rotational role next season. Philadelphia’s linebacker play left plenty to be desire last year, so it comes as no surprise the team has made multiple moves in the early days of free agency aimed at adding starting-caliber options. Fellow addition Devin White will likely be in line for a larger workload on defense, but Burks proved a capability to handle at least part-time duties last season. His special teams abilities will, at a minimum, allow him to carve out a role with the Eagles.
