Manchester City fans must still be trying to get over the fact that Kevin De Bruyne is set to play his football elsewhere next season.
But there is more heartbreaking news for City fans as Bernardo Silva has apparently been informed by the Sky Blues that they are ready to part ways with him — as per journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
With Bernardo’s athleticism declining in a Manchester City shirt, it looks like he is well past his prime and Tavolieri’s report mentions that Benfica are ready to reach an agreement to re-sign him.

Bernardo’s dream has been to return to Benfica and the only stumbling block in any potential deal is that it is considered impossible for the the Portuguese giants to pay his £50 million release clause.
The 30-year-old’s possible exit will be a heartbreaking one for Pep Guardiola, who utterly adores Bernardo.
Manchester City fans have now voiced their opinions on whether it is the right time for Bernardo Silva to bid farewell to the Premier League champions.

Man City fans as Bernardo Silva is set for Benfica move
One Manchester City fan claimed that it is best for Bernardo to depart the Etihad Stadium due to his deteriorating displays and the fact that he turns 31 next year: “The right decision. And the right time to go. Bernardo’s performances have dipped considerably (after maintaining them at a very high level for seven years). He’ll be 31 next season. Re-invest the wages.”
A second Manchester City fan agreed but admitted that he is sad that Bernardo looks set to exit the club: “I feel pretty sad with letting Berna go, it’s the best decision but I still love him to death.”
A third City supporter believes the decision is especially correct as Pep Guardiola’s side are in need of a squad rejig: “Bernardo also been told he’s not part of our plans going forward. Brutal, sad, end of an era but it’s absolutely necessary for future success. These guys have given an enormous amount to City but can no longer do it. A refresh is needed and we’ve called for it all season.”

But a fourth Manchester City fan was upset about the decision as he simply wrote: “Manchester City have told Bernardo Silva to leave the club, love him, I couldn’t agree any less.”
Another supporter paid tribute to the Portuguese maestro, who he feels has been “disrespected” by several of his fellow fans: “Been so disrespected by fans over the last year or so. He bleeds blue and he loves the club. Wouldn’t have won what we have without him. One of our most underrated big names. Thank you for everything, Bernardo.”
A sixth Manchester City fan revealed he is stunned by the news, considering he expected Bernardo not to be sold: “If I was to pick one of Bernardo, KDB [Kevin De Bruyne], [Ilkay] Gundogan, [John] Stones, [Jack] Grealish etc as the most likely to be here next season, I genuinely reckon I might have landed on Bernardo for plenty of reasons…so this is a proper statement transfer if it happens. Really is just Pep [Guardiola] letting the rebuild happen. Learned his lesson from last summer.”

Who could replace Bernardo Silva at Manchester City?
If Bernardo does end up leaving Manchester City to join Benfica, what will be interesting to see is whether the recruits decide to sign an attacking midfielder to replace him due to Nico Gonzalez’ presence or bring in a number eight.
One name who could be the perfect replacement for the six-time Premier League winner is Tijjani Reijnders, who Manchester City are eyeing as he is a terrific central midfielder.
With Xavi Simons suggesting he could leave RB Leipzig, he could very well be a brilliant candidate to succeed Bernardo as well as he can play as a number 10, in a double pivot and even out wide.
