Man City ready to actually sell ‘world-class’ player if they receive bid of over £90m this summer
Manchester City would consider bidding farewell to Kevin De Bruyne in the summer if they received a big fee.
Such a revelation about De Bruyne’s future has been made in a recent report by The Athletic.
As things stand, the Belgian captain’s contract at City expires in the summer of 2025, much like Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City would be willing to sell Kevin De Bruyne for £90 million plus fee
The report has explained how the Sky Blues have a “strict” policy when it comes to offering contracts to their players who are approaching their thirties, such as in Ilkay Gundogan’s case.
The club were reluctant to offer him a longer-term deal, despite his epic final season in a City shirt.
However, Manchester City can make exceptions in certain cases, such as when they tied Kyle Walker down to a two-year contract in the fear that he would have signed for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

When the club offered Riyad Mahrez, who was 31 at the time a two-year contract in 2022, a key reason behind the decision was they did not feel he would regress from a physical standpoint.
But in Gundogan’s case, City did not feel the same and with De Bruyne having returned from a major hamstring injury this season, the physical levels they foresee him to be at in the future is believed to impact contract talks.
It has been reported that as Manchester City fans have discussed £90 million as perhaps the justified fee to demand for Kevin De Bruyne in the transfer market, in reality, the club would be willing to offload him for such a whopping sum.

As City have banked enough in terms of transfer fees by mainly selling their youth players in recent windows, the idea of selling De Bruyne for a big fee does tempt them if they do not feel the need to renew his contract.
After all, the treble-winner, described as “world-class” by Tim Sherwood turns 33 in June and as previously mentioned, he has just 16 months left on his deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Furthermore, Michael Emenalo, who is the Saudi Pro League’s sporting director, who brought the midfield maestro to Chelsea from Genk is believed to have been in touch with him over a potential move.
In the summer, the five-time Premier League winner rejected a move to the league and his initial plan before their interest remained to either retire at City in 2025 or play in the MLS (Major League Soccer) if he felt he had more to offer.
However, Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne and his family are not particularly keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, as per the report. But the league’s interest in signing him is not expected to diminish anytime soon.
Even if City were to offer De Bruyne just an additional year as part of a new contract but on reduced terms, it seems likely that he would accept the deal.
Currently, both parties have not been in contact over a contract renewal.
Only time will tell whether Kevin De Bruyne could indeed leave Manchester City in the summer if a huge offer presents itself.
